It is with sadness that we have to report the death of Alex Johnson, former London Underground driver, who was chairman of the London branch of the Railway Invigoration Society. He was also a member of the national committee of the RIS before its amalgamation with the Railway Development Association to form the present RDS. After his retirement from the Underground, he was a powerful force behind the publicity and sales team. He was partly instrumental in setting up the Hounslow Loop Users Group, having organised a number of meetings in Barnes. After moving to Borehamwood (from Ealing) he became largely house-bound but was regularly visited by Lionel Boylet, myself and the late Edina Lewis.
