Integration

Train operator WAGN has made a determined effort to do its best for its rush-hour cyclist customers. They are encouraged to leave their own bikes at their local stations, travel in comfort by train to Cambridge and then collect a free bike from the station to their ultimate destination. In conjunction with the county council, WAGN has provided an extra 300 secure cycle parking spaces at the station as well as new racks at other stations. WAGN's head of cycling John Sarson said: "Our schemes all work towards the integration of cycling with rail travel." But there will always be cyclists — including complete families — who will want and need to take their own bikes on the train. In response, WAGN provides on-train cycle areas with tip-up seats.
