Rail users ousted Transport Minister Gavin Strang listened to appeals from Wrexham MP Dr John Marek and rail users' leader Rod Fairley, but the Government still went ahead and allowed the closure of Wrexham Central station and its reinstatement out of town. The Government chose to listen to property developers instead. Rail users will have an extra walk of 560 metres even though research has shown the further away the station, the fewer people will use it.
Dirty tricks department Frequent cancellations of the Saturday-only Llandudno to Liverpool service via Frodsham Junction and Halton Junction prompted North Cheshire Rail Users to complain to the North West Rail Users' Consultative Committee. The RUCC has urged North Western Trains to avoid cancellations which hinder work to encourage passengers.
