
Think positive Frank Maidens of the Saltburn Line Users Group entertained and informed a branch meeting in June with an account of his group's formation, work and aspirations. His enthusiasm was contagious.
Pressing forward There is optimism about reopenings following behind the scenes work by the branch. The Blyth and Tyne freight lines are now being looked at in a positive light following a feasibility study by Northumberland county council which wants to improve public transport.
Rail interest Our strategy for the Leamside Line from Pelaw to Ferryhill is unfolding with a series of meetings between branch officials, MEPs, councillors and other interested parties.
Way ahead The transport strategy for Tyne and Wear over the next years was outlined to our branch meeting in September by Jack Graham of the passenger transport executive. We reminded him of the strong case for more investment in rail.
